A monster from the game Minecraft. It is one of the most dangerous hostile mobs in the game. Spawns in the Overworld on light level of zero. Its only attack is to explode, fatally damaging the player, and destroying nearby blocks. This, combined with its nearly silent footsteps and its only making its trademark "Tsss" (or "シュー" as it's known in Japanese) when it is about to explode—has given it a notorious reputation for taking players completely by surprise.
Amongst the Japanese community it has earned the nickname "匠" or "たくみ (Takumi)", which translates to "Craftsman." Being one of the most memorable and original mobs in the game, it has become a kind of mascot for Minecraft.
It is the primary source of gunpowder. A creeper surviving a lightning strike will turn into the more powerful charged creeper. If killed by a skeleton or stray, it will drop a music disc.
