A lieutenant-commander in the operations branch of Starfleet stationed on the USS Enterprise, he is a Soong-type android who wishes to be human and experience emotions, and thus tries to understand the behaviors of humans. His personality is clearly supposed to resemble that of someone on the autism spectrum.
