Nareko is a Dousojin who guards the entrance to the pyramidal altar underneath Youkai Mountain, preventing people from coming in and out of the pyramid. She is not Egyptian, but is inspired by the Sphinx to challenge visitors with riddles, manipulating the answers to give herself an advantage. One of Marisa's endings reveals that she was created and placed by Chimi at the altar a long time ago.
