A state of inadequate ability to fulfill basic needs due to insufficient income. May be characterized in a typical picture by the lack of proper clothing and/or other basic amenities, overcrowding, malnutrition or other symptoms associated with improper nourishment, and/or peculiar behavior (scrounging for coins, extreme saving of resources, even violence). May also be associated with slums.
