Zelda assumed this identity to be able to assist Link as he goes through his journey, and to better be able to combat Ganondorf's forces during his reign of terror. In this form, Sheik is one of the last remaining members of the Sheikah tribe, and a mysterious and stoic individual. Sheik is also assumed to be a man.
