His Saiyan name is "Kakarot", which is how Vegeta addresses him throughout the anime and manga. Some of his signature techniques are the Kamehameha and the Genki Dama.
He is loosely based on Sun Wukong of the classical Chinese novel Journey to the West, whose name is translated as Son Goku in Japanese.
Goku's Japanese seiyuu is Nozawa Masako, and the current English dub voice actor is Sean Schemmel (though the character has gone through many different dub voice changes in the past). In other languages, Mario Castañeda voices him in the Latin American dub, and in the Tagalog dub, he was voiced by Nesty Ramirez until his retirement from the role in the early 2000s, and the late Jefferson Utanes.
