The abbreviation of Bavarian Motor Works, a vehicle manufacturing company headquarted in the German city of Munich. Known primarily for luxury cars, they also produce motorcycles and started out as an airplane engine manufacturer.

BMW vehicles are sometimes colloquially called "Bimmers" or "Beamers."
