chimney

A vertical structure generally found on the roof of a house, used for venting smoke from a fireplace or furnace to the outside atmosphere. Generally made out of bricks.

Santa Claus is said to come down the chimney to deliver presents on Christmas. Characters attempting the same feat are prone to getting stuck.

For the similar object found on industrial plants, locomotives or ships, use smokestack instead.
