cucumber
A cylinder-shaped fruit, Cucumis sativus, with a thin green rind and white flesh. It is prepared and eaten as a vegetable, and is a favorite of kappas. Cats have an instinctual revulsion to the sight of them; it is believed they associate their appearance with snakes.
Kappamaki is a kind of sushi containing cucumber.
