digestion

The process of food breaking down food into nutrients inside the stomach. Beginning when the food is in the mouth, then ingested by swallowing down the throat (esophagus), entering the stomach. Digestion normally takes up to 3 or 4 hours to complete. And ends with the food being broken down in smaller bits in the intestines, allowing gases to accumulate along with excrement being passed out of the anus.
