global defense initiative

The Global Defense Initiate (GDI) is a faction in the Command & Conquer Tiberium series.

Formed by the UN as a special task force to deal with significant threats to world peace, they later become the government of humanity (barring the parts under Nod's control) after the spread of the toxic self-replicating substance named Tiberium devastates much of the planet.

Curiously for a "good guy" faction, their military doctrine relies on strong overwhelming force and firepower.
