As their name suggests, they are golden sets of armor that provide the most coverage compared to their Bronze and Silver counterparts.
They number 12 in total, each is based on one of the twelve zodiac constellations.

In Next Dimension; it is revealed there was a 13th gold cloth during the age of myth, based on the Ophiuchus constellation.
