halftone
A technique in which small dots of varying size and shape are used to simulate different tones of color or shades of grey. This can be either as an artistic choice, or as a printing technique to simulate smooth gradients using a single color of ink. At a distance, the dots will appear to blend together and produce a smooth gradient.
If the dots are all equal in size, use Ben-Day dots instead.
