In Cowboy Bebop, Jet Black is Spike Spiegel's partner in the business of bounty hunting. A former member of the Inter-Solar System Police, Jet quit the force soon after losing his left arm, which he had replaced with a prosthetic, in a case gone bad. Jet is the owner of the Bebop and is much like a father to Spike, which often means that Spike's rash actions during jobs irritate him to no end.
