lamp

An indoor light fixture placed on a table or floor to illuminate a room or brighten a work space. Lamps typically have a lampshade or some other covering to diffuse the light.

Not to be confused with lanterns, which are portable and often used outdoors, or with lampposts, which are also seen outdoors.
