Any type of prayer beads used by members of various religions like Christianity (Catholicism, Anglicanism), Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Bahá'í Faith to count the repetitions of prayers, chants or devotions. They may also be used for meditation, protection from negative energy, or for relaxation.

May also apply to the similar prayer rope used by Orthodox Christians, despite their material is fabric or cord-based.
