It, along with Witch of the Black Forest, were a staple cards in the first decades of the game's history due to its easy-to-use generic searcher effects before both were banned in 2011. Konami later paid homage by creating a series of cards involves around Sangan's misadvanture to the "forbidden world" where several other banned cards resides. Sangan were later unbanned in 2016 after receiving errata and became one of the recurring mascot for the fiend-type monsters since.
