A slingshot swimsuit, also known as a sling bikini or mankini for males, is a V-shaped swimsuit that stretches from the crotch, separates to cover the nipples, up over the shoulders and around the neck. It's much like a thong that stretches to go over the shoulders, providing minimal coverage to the wearer.
Slingshot swimsuits can have a V-shaped top, or have an X-shaped criss-cross halter top that crosses beneath the neck, similar to a pretzel bikini.
A common gag is that the straps fail to completely cover the nipples.
While slingshot swimsuits are technically one piece of fabric, they are considered their own category and should not be tagged as one-piece swimsuits.
