virtual boy
A "portable" video game console made by Nintendo in 1995. The first console capable of displaying true 3D, via parallax. To make the console cheaper, it was only capable of displaying red and black. These and the console's large size (despite being advertised as a "portable" console) led to eye strain and headaches during use.
The Virtual Boy was a commercial failure, selling only 770,000 units before it was discontinued a year later, with a library of only 22 games released for it. A stand accessory in the likeness of the Virtual Boy would be released in tandem with the system's addition to the Nintendo Switch's Nintendo Classics service.
