Well, seeing Vegas and the Grand Canyon in the same trip is quite possible, but for Yellowstone probably, and New York City definitely, you'd have to get more than one flight.

Well, maybe they can save on hotel costs if they can find enough trustworthy fans near each of the places they plan to visit...

Hopefully he won't sleep through his in flight meals this time. Did you guys pack him a Challenge Burger for the return trip? Don't want him getting hungry on such a long flight.

I boarded my return flight without incident. At Boston Airport, the Murasa costumer saw me off all the way to the boarding gate, but all the gag material I thought of for drawing it was cruel, so of course, I axed the idea. (^^;)

Reader-added tags include "You're worn-out, Kogasa-san", "It's gonna be scary later if you don't make effort now, Kogasa-san" and "No Unzan in panel 1".

The survey asks for trip ideas:

Couldn't find any particular site with good coverage of Saginomiya, which is the basis for the shrine that turns up in Lucky Star, apparently. Couldn't find even decent Google coverage for Rikuzen-Takasago, which is a neighborhood north of Tokyo, as well as a station in Sendai. I've actually been to Shirakawa Village as part of a tour. It's very pretty countryside and the place is historically interesting, but I'm too much of a city person to want to live there. I wouldn't recommend it for a honeymoon, personally. :-)

If the Suwako shrine isn't included in that list, Kogasa is going to be in a lot of trouble next family reunion...

The fifth choice in those polls is usually a joke reference - it says in that Wikipedia article you linked that Shirakawa village is the village from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. I'm sure the reference was to make the joke, "Let's visit the place from that horror game/anime for our honeymoon!"

For that matter, Lake Kizaki is from Onegai Sensei, and you just mentioned Lucky Star as featuring Saginomiya, so I'm guessing that all five of these choices were from some famous anime or another (with the joke one being the horror anime).

Not only is it possible, but I actually did visit the Grand Canyon during a Las Vegas trip.

But a lot of foreigners underestimate just how big the USA is. I heard a story about someone who visited a friend in Houston and suggested trying a restaurant in Dallas (or maybe vice versa), not realizing it was about a four hour drive even though they're both in Texas.

You know, when you mentioned that, I spent a good half of an hour staring at the first panel to see if i missed something.

Shirakawa-go is quite nice, but it's tiny and kind of a tourist trap. Not really worth staying for more than a night.

If you visit one of the shrines, every single one of the ema have Higurashi characters drawn on them.

Ah well. It was fun while it lasted.

I'm amazed to learn Zakenna was sober enough to make it to the airport.

Statue of Liberty is such a tourist trap. My preference is to walk in lower and mid Manhattan and look at the architecture - and visit places like the Bamboo Court.

If they do make another trip to the US, I'm looking forward to the strips that come from it.

Well, all good things must come to an end. We all had great fun together, and look forward to the next time! I wonder if Kogasa-san is having some fun dreams about the experience? It always feels like it all was a dream the first couple of days after a con.

For the poll, Imamiya Shrine sounds like it would fun. I'm sure Kogasa-san would love to try out the restaurants over by the shrine (and Sanae-san would likely abuse Kogasa-san for eating too much).

now I'm just curious what he had in store for me lol. I went through air port security with him with my captain jacket on since I couldn't fit it in my 21 inch carry-on. I also had a wallscroll sticking out of my backpack and a paper bag with Sena Kashiwazaki from Haganai on both sides.

to be fair from my perspective it was rather uneventful they even let us through without using the body scanner.

Texas represent! You cannot leave Texas's gravity very easily unless you live on the borders (minus the one bordering Mexico!).

Just some trivia:
•Dallas to Houston = 4 hours
•Houston to Austin = 3 hours (5 hours in traffic)
•Austin to Dallas = 3.5 hours
•Houston to El Paso (Extreme East to West) = A little more than 11 hours
•Brownsville to Amarillo (South to notable North) = 13.5 hours then add about an hour more actually get out of the state
•Lubbock to College Station (Texas Tech to Aggie Land) = 8 hours

All this going at 70 mph on the highway. None of this 55-60 mph nonsense.

You had it easy then; I went through in full cosplay, since I didn't have a place to change after the con. I had to get one of the infamous TSA pat-downs.

California is also huge. It's almost 800 miles (and thus two days) from San Diego on the Mexican border to the Oregon state line.

In terms of latitude, if you placed CA on the east coast, it would stretch from Charleston almost to Boston.

I totally wouldn't mind if they came to see the Grand Canyon. Me, I'm something like...30-45 minutes away from there? I'd love to meet him as well since I couldn't make Boston

Woah, woah, two days for 800 miles? You're too slow. I'd do that in one day, 14 hours or less actually.

yea 800 miles at an average of 60 a hour is only about 13 hours, so 11-12 sounds pretty reasonable. two days XD
