Is there some kind of sea change currently happening in Japanese cultural attitudes regarding personal drug use? Or are artists being daring and pushing the censorship envelope? Seems like there's a lot more of these types of images appearing on Pixiv.

Officially, of course. But what I meant to ask was, are the cultural attitudes of ordinary Japanese citizens changing on this subject?
Arguably, in the West, they have and are continuing to do so. And you can and should expect that change to show up in arts and entertainment...as they are. I wondered the same might be happening with well-known anime (and game) character images being appropriated for that purpose...or whether the artists are daring the censors over there to take a swipe at them.
