Well, technically you are supposed to join the words together (Lindwurmschwert) for German compound nouns, but eh, this works better for Miss Chuunibyou Tenryuu.

I honestly find the fan headcanon that Tenryuu is a Chuuni along with Kiso. It adds to her charm.

I would assume because this comic is based on the story and not fanservice. Canonically it's because he gets cold looking at them.

Shiba Dog Admiral seems to be quite old styled. That and I remember jokes in Danbooru that he might even be one of the senior aged KanColle players. So he seems to go with older standard of decency, telling the girls to not go around showing skin, like their grandpa.

There's also the repertoire of showa era(?) karaoke songs
