She wasn't; she was supposed to fight the Dunkerque- and the Richelieu-class battleships. After all, battleships are not built to fight destroyers...

The French destroyers were to be taken care of by the Condottieri-class and the Capitani Romani-class light cruisers (although the latter were something between a light cruiser and a super destroyer... pretty nice ships though...).

Given the similarities, it's entertaining to see us used as a translation source.

Well, it's not the first time. Most of fan page's post that i've seen was also danbooru-based.
Some of them even improvise with the dialogue.
