She took up his mantle after the attack that killed him while he held the line so the town nearby was evacuated.

I think meeting Inazuma is why she decided she liked his shipgirls, though.

And Koharu is not stable, just apathetic. I like her more energetic younger self. Not that I find her older self hard to look at...

On a second look, Koharu is pretty cute with her hair like that.
