Why does looking at Hibiki's wish make me feel kinda sad? It's like, she's a soldier who's been on the field for decades, fighting a seemingly never-ending war, then lost all hope of going home. Or maybe, she actually is. An old, sarcastic soldier.
The LOL part, perhaps? At least, it doesn't seem that she is taking the wish seriously (or think that it is possible).
Exactly. When I was in high school I wrote my taunt simply to piss off the other students in my hippie "progressive" district, but now being a little older, I have only seen things that reaffirm that joke. There are too many people with needs and wants, you can never satisfy everyone and sooner or later war manifests over this desire. Desires to survive, maybe to be wealthy, or for supremacy and power. Still, despite how scary war is, the real tragedy is if people fail to participate in warfare over fear of it and consequentially get run over by a more committed and aggressive adversary and lose everything of value without resistance. A poor sense of compassion and passivity costs far more lives and spawns deeper regret than a quick and decisive conflict of total warfare.
