You should take look at the source. It's practically the same. This one is the "pbs.twimg.com" version of the older post. If you want a proof, try "Copy image location" on the twitter of the older post and paste it on the new tab.

There's an extremely minor (but still there) difference in compression artifacts between the two images, with this one having ever so slightly less.
So either this was the original upload and the older (here) image was a reupload (as Twitter applies their own added compression), or... well, something else.
Regardless, this is the "cleaner" of the two images, and likely the more original.

Even though they're from the same source? I don't know if Twitter provides a "reupload" feature that keeps the direct link the same as before, like Pixiv.

It is strange, and I'm not sure how that happened. Possible the child post came from the :large version on Twitter, while this one came from the :orig version. Twitter's compression can be odd.
