I think there's a missed joke here. Hibiki specifically said "drawing the flavor out of the ingredient" (or however you phrase that), hence Hamakaze showing the cloth with food motive on it.

素材 has nothing to do with ingredients, though. At least I'm assuming it's 素材, and not something similar (Especially as 味 can just mean style). But it's not too hard to make it something relate to food, I'll change it up.

Googling 素材の味 returns quite the number of food-related stuff though, so I assume it means ingredients.

I thought it would be 材料の味 at first, but that gets significantly less hit than 素材の味.
