Its believed if you dream Mt Fuji, Eggplant and Hawk(Crane in some versions) on New Year, you will have a good year ahead.

This comic definitely reminded me of Kyon's recurring New Year's dream in the Haruhi-chan material. Tsuruya is supposed to play the hawk, but she is a crane "with the heart of a hawk" because she uses the crane motif in everything.
