It will be a cold day in hell before Nintendo elevates any fan created characters, on top defacing one of their oldest and most iconic final bosses with genderbending sexualization. Regardless some recognition for hitting a nail right on the head, driving it all the way through and striking oil definitely deserves some recognition. even if it is just following an existing trend of drawing anything as a girl and suddenly it is golden. Whether it is ships, horses, exotic animals, celestial bodies.....

You say that, but they bent Samus over and raped her character with a shitty fanfic-made-canon just because the fanfic was made by someone with seniority.... (And at the same time declared the Prime games not canon because they weren't made in-house, only to give Metroid back to them because Nintendo screwed the pooch so badly itself.)

Sakamoto tried to strike the Prime Trilogy from canon because it didn't fit his vision. When he made an ass of himself with Other M and Nintendo looked elsewhere for Samus Returns, they immediately chose to set the trilogy in stone by using Metroid 2 to link the Prime Trilogy and Super.

I'm super amused that, as of right now, January 2019, there's ~5 times as much Bowsette fanart on Danbooru as Bowser fanart, yet Peachette fanart isn't even halfway to breaking triple digits.

That's because Toadette isn't really characterized. She's basically just Toad (who also is so lacking in characterization that there's an indefinite number of them who are basically all the same character) but pink and with mushroom "pigtails".

Genderswapped Bowser is at least interesting because it takes an actual character and changes them in a way that demands fundamentally reevaluating their character and/or plays directly into the Foe Yay that people always found coded into the Bowser/Mario relationship.
