So... if Glocks have such a hilariously bad reputation, how the fuck do they keep selling?
Actually, there are many kind of opinions on Glocks. Some like them, some hate their guts, if guns have any.
Usually though, the Glocks are often complained for having their frame made of polymer, slide too slick or the grip being too big, trigger bring squishy and lack of manual safety, I guess.
I haven't handled a Glock enough to know for sure, but beside the trigger, there shouldn't be too many problems with Glocks, though I personally don't regard them as my favorite kind of gun.
Why Glocks are selling though, that's because there are still people liking them. And again, I don't know how a Glock would be good so I can't say that much. But I did see people arguing about Glocks are good or bad.

Great Price/Quality/Maintenance ratio, easy to use, simple, ergonomic design, hella easy to handle and always available in the market.
Also, they're ideal "Race Pistols". Metal Skeletons & Frames help produce a LOT of recoil when firing due to their weight. Polymer Reduces weight, making them way more accurate, albeit weaker in terms of durability.
So, really, the bad rep is because firearm users ask, like all of us to some extent, flawless products...
why GLOCK sells simple because they could also cheaper, if iraqveteran8888 meltdown test showed you're going to a war's worth of ammo before you are going to break a glock 600 rounds non-stop in full auto I'm not even sure how practical machine pistols are in a modern setting

You've got it backwards. A lighter gun produces greater felt recoil than a heavier one, all other things being equal. All the forces produced by firing going into moving a heavier object means you feel less of the acceleration / impulse. This is a big part of why it's better to start teaching first-time pistol shooters on full-size pistols rather than subcompacts chambering the same ammo.
Glocks are the Toyota Camry of pistols, not too fancy but does the job reliably. They're not my thing, but I wouldn't stop a friend from getting one. A "race pistol" is more of an F1 car, like so, like so, or like so.
