Its just a name connection bit since the Cromwell tank's predecessor was also called "Centaur"

Not really a predecessor but a related model. They're based on the same chassis but had different engines. The Cromwell used the Meteor engine (derived from the aircraft Merlin engine), while the Centaur had the lackluster Liberty engine.
