Yes, I believe so, the ring is also there; so I think it's implying that Byleth loved Edelgard despite being on opposite sides.

Somebody went the church route first, I see. Honestly, if there's ever going to be some official manga/anime of the game, church route would probably be the way to go, with all the potential for drama. (I'd hope they'd fit in the Battle at Gronder Field, though)
