I'd definitely put it on display for a day or two first. Because:
A - It looks really well crafted and it'd be a waste to eat it right away.
and
B - Showing it off to everyone would probably embarrass her a fair bit.

I believe there's a mis-translation in the last bubble: the ruby text is minuscule, but it's not a 白　but a 自, as in 自分のチョコ, "Chocolate of oneself", or a model she made of herself

you're right. I didn't notice it but it definitely makes more sense in context.
