    手すりなんかのパーツも劣化でボロボロになってるけど交換部品がないという切なさです。

    というわけで、おうちを建てよう編は今日でおしまいです。
    もうちょっと長く続けられるかと思ってましたが、意外と短かったです(^^;)

    Hang in There, Kogasa-san 3742

There's also the pain of the banister and other parts deteriorating and falling apart, and not having any replacement parts.

With that done, today ends the Let's Build a Home chapter. I thought it would run on a little longer, but it was surprisingly brief. (^^;)

The only reader-added tag so far is "I'll DIY it anyway".

Wouldn't that be a bath-plug ? Even in this country, them being standard sizes one can buy one in a village shop or newsagent...

It looks like one of the fancier ones that connects by a hidden rod to a wall button. You wouldn't be able to replace that without specialty parts. Or remove it completely and put in an el cheapo rubber plug, but then it wouldn't match.

if its just rubber, you could always just buy a bigger one and trim it down.

You could probably scrape off the old rubber and make a new gasket with RTV silicone.

For important parts, it's best to buy 2-3 spares.

Never buy spares for rubber-based products unless the objective is to throw good money away.

    Be Careful!
Guess we'll switch it out for a new one...
    Present day...
The manufacturer's gone out of business! They don't sell the same size of gasket anywhere!!
    I bought a similar-looking size, but it's still leaking a bit...

    Drops about this much overnight

The stopper for the bath's degraded and is letting water leak through...
Seems like the gasket rubber's gotten old...
