It probably would've been impossible to implement all the complexities that made Dante "Dante" into something like Smash, even with how they managed to make freakin' Steve what he is in the game.
That’s a shame, Shantae was the last character on my wishlist. I can’t be too bummed since I got Banjo and Pyra/Mythra but I can’t think of anyone else I would want for the last character slot.

Shantae was the only character on my wishlist that could've logically gotten in (Master Chief and a rep from SRW or Apex are total never evers and I'm probably the only person who wants another FE character with a rep from Blazing Blades, Sacred Stones, or Echoes ), so I hope the final slot is someone fun.
Hey, as someone who wanted Dante (probably my 3rd or 4th choice) and Shantae (my top pick since Brawl), I'm more than happy to have them represented. Plus their costumes are both looking slick.
And hey, K Rool, Isabelle, and Chrom were late game Mii Costumes last time, and Sakurai even addressed this group was full of highly requested characters. There's always next time!

While also a stylish character action game (started by Kamiya, no less), Bayonetta is heavily streamlined compared to Dante even in her native series (mind, this is neither a good nor bad thing). Makes it comparatively easy to implement her into Smash.
