Per howto:translate, a bad translation is worse than no translation.

Reread that part you quoted. And brush up your reading comprehension while you're at it.

Yeah, and this is a translation. A machine translation is a translation. There's no rule against it. I suggest you stop deleting my work before you get your approver status revoked for vandalism

No translation is BETTER than a bad translation.

Ergo, I'm fully justified in deleting those.

And, seriously, are you threatening me, despite being the one at fault?

You're a complete asshole for deleting them.
    1. Did you even read them?
    2. You can read Japanese, do you have ANY plan to EVER touch this doujin? It's sat here for over a month untouched with my comment sitting there waiting. You're literally using your time that you could be fixing the context of my translations to delete what, I'm sure, are mostly correctly translated bubbles

    1. If I didn't I would have BLANKET DELETED everything instead of selectively excising the ones that are GROSSLY inaccurate. Which I did on the second pass for the posts that you decided to revert your crappy notes on, because I couldn't be bothered to do it TWICE.

    2. 'Fixing' the bad notes takes more time than just deleting them. I'm not OBLIGED to spend more time than I want to.

Now you're just lying. Tell me what the title says then. Tell me what I thought was "The scene in the previous work where the Crown Prince was blown away Saki met the Crown Prince again was inconvenient in regards to this work, so please ignore it. Sorry." actually is.

Tell me what Futo says. Tell me how it isn't remotely close to hiding after running her over

The MTL drops phrases it doesn't 'understand' (like, I dunno, most of the adjectives and adverbs for that one). It also butchers all nuance from the sentence.

I'm not obliged to enlighten your ignorance.

You have repeatedly demonstrated bad faith. I have a very well-founded suspicion that you're going to spit hairs on every single note and argue just for the sake of arguing, like every wannabe "Internet tough guy" who got caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar.

    This ends here.

You won't simply because it's clearly not grossly incorrect yet you don't give a shit because you speak Japanese and everyone who doesn't shouldn't be allowed to read through the base of the story without any "nuance." It's extremely ironic that you would say I'm the only "spitting" hairs when you're the one mass-deleting and locking the notes that are likely almost entirely correct that you will never touch yourself

Cool, asked a friend who is certified fluent in Japanese what it said and the basis of it was completely correct and didn't harm the understanding of the story or page in any way. Nice to know you deemed that grossly incorrect in your first pass

Now that things have cooled down a bit, perhaps I will explain some things.

Then your friend kinda... missed the joke and the multiple implicit meanings of the rest of the sentence.

The 'standard' trope is for a shy 'maiden' to hide behind a tree (or lamp post/utility pole) first AND THEN come rushing at their crush after they manage to overcome their shyness or are otherwise overcome with emotion.

Saki does it the other way around, and Futo is tsukkomi-ing this. Leaning on the fourth wall a little. This part is not explicitly stated, but the choice of vocabulary, sentence structure and sentence ending particle all make this clear. But this completely flew over the head of Google-san and your friend.

"Isn't it strange to hide after running someone over?!" is misleading, because it makes it sound like a moral accusation, i.e. "You're immoral for running somebody down and hiding away without admitting to your crimes or making amends". This is made far worse by the MTL dropping 恥じらい (which provides a massive hint on the intended meaning) completely.

The follow-up "That order!!" also winds up sounding nonsensical in this context. Because now it makes it seem like Futo is telling Saki that she should "hide first then run somebody down", like an assassin or something. It fails utterly in conveying the 'bashful maiden running into her crush' trope that Futo is alluding to here.

So, while your MTL got most of the individual words correct, the overall sentence winds up conveying a completely different meaning compared to what Futo (and Warugaki) intended. That's why I felt it was a 'bad translation' and should be removed, because it otherwise confuses the reader and kills the joke.

And therein this is WHY Warugaki comics often take a while to be translated. Because they are tricky that way. Lots of underlying nuance, in-jokes, and meta trope ribbing that can sometimes be hard to translate adequately without using too many words.

And to add further complication, this page is from a previous comic. Depicting an event that has since been retconned. So there is a another layer of meta joke going around (Warugaki also subtly ribs on the retconning here in the 'title'-looking part). Along with some missing context that may require reading the final few pages of the previous comic to grasp.

I don't care about your attempted justification. I'm not allowed to defend my point anymore and I have no power on the website nor any friends here. My hard work was completely trashed and deleted and now I've been in trouble and look like shit. Glad I tried to do something for other people. My original comment about machine translating it was positive before I actually did, for reference. Guess they were right about the road to hell. I will never believe that you did it out of a genuine care for the work so just go back to "this ends here" and give me another hidden comment

I was joking but damn, it escalated so far...

Well Tbh, I don’t really mind no translation but Bad Translation? That’s rather annoying.

Lesson learnt: Never joke about daring any one to do something they joked

Also, I hope Wakutaki’s Saki doujins got translated soon.
