Nah, its not that people or artist "Forget" Rinnoske's connection to Marisa's Hakkero. Its just that hes has way more de-meaning fan-art than "Good" fanart. Same for Kaito of the vocaloid world. Once your put in the "Joke" bin by fanon, you just gotta ride it out.
its not really that powerful, and might not even be that rare. i think the only think special about rinnosukes is that he made it small. its just a device that amplifies the power of magic. i'm sure there are many other ways to get the same effect.

I doubt that's supposed to be the Kusanagi, though on the other hand, I suppose more people would prefer to see it as a standard katana rather than the short, single edged bronze blade it's allegedly supposed to be.

The Mini-Hakkero is a unique device, as it was hand made by Rinnosuke. Additionally, it's built using the magic of Gensokyo, as well as 'magic' of the outside world that 'doesn't require spiritual power' (a.k.a. science).
