    Don't make too much of the gendered pronoun. English requires a pronoun for the correctly translated sentence (and gendered pronouns are all there are in English), but the original Japanese sentence didn't even specify the object's identity.

    In Japanese, spelling out the object of a sentence isn't necessary if it can be inferred by context, so things like this happen fairly frequently.

    I chose "he" because, simply, Eirin's speaking to and thinking about the viewer - and most of those who see this image will most likely be male.
