i think the word "kind" doesn't compute with him i mean he was dragged to the party by a rope

wow, i guess my mind is in the gutter compared to how you guys interpret that sentance. "Papa is kind to me" i take it that Shou misunderstood it as in "My papa does 'this and that' to me".

My mind is very pure and that's how I interpret it too. Why else would he be so surprised? I've not seen any indication meiling wouldn't be kind to him.

He can't compute Reisen as kind, seeing how Reisen is so jealous of her child she seems to be proactive in protecting her daughter and a bit agressive with the boys...

Basically whenever Shourei goes over there he's nearly killed by Reisen every time.
