Or maybe: - Some people just don't like Reimu. - Some people have some strange relationships with some characters (Tajima Yuuki, Shimo, etc.)

Ironically, that thought crossed my mind as well. Someone being consumed by their own insanity is driven to suicide. This seems like the case but you never know (unless the artist says otherwise.) so no "another jerk didn't get his just desserts." we'll know one day if they artist says something about it. Hm....
