泣き出した少女がとても悲しげで痛々しくて

僕はさめざめと泣いている少女、かける言葉を失ってしまった。少女はどうやら妖怪か何かの類らしくて、封印とかだろうか、永い眠りから醒めた後に、共に眠りについた仲間が居なくなって悲しんでいるようだった。今の世界に彼女と繋がっているモノは何もないという事だろう。先ほどの雨の中での彼女の「祝福してくれ」という言葉を思い出した。祝福なんて難しい言葉だけど、要は祝ってくれという事だ。泣いている彼女に対して、他人の僕がどうすべきか、そもそも干渉すべき事じゃないかもしれない。でも、他人の彼女を余計かもしれない心配をして、家に上げてしまったのだ。中途半端な親切はしたくなかった。僕は、彼女の頭を撫でて、ちょいと待っててと言って、外に飛び出した。そして、暫く経って僕は帰宅した。手にはケーキやロースチキンとかを持って。少女は僕の様子を見て、戸惑った表情をしていた。僕は、手に持った食べ物をちゃぶ台に並べて、すわってすわってと少女を座に着かせた。そして、ふとちゃん、ご復活おめでとーう、と僕は恥ずかしかったものの、覚悟を決めて馬鹿みたいに明るい声で彼女に賛辞を述べて、クラッカーを鳴らした。すると「ひゃっ」と少女は驚きの声を上げた。少女は目をぱちぱちとさせて僕を見つめている。さっきふとちゃんとの出会いを祝うって言ったじゃん、だから、祝ってるんだ。んで、これ、祝いの捧げ物。と出来るだけのくだけた口調で食べ物を指差した。まだ、少女は戸惑っていたが、無理矢理食べて食べてとケーキを勧め、少女は恐る恐るケーキを口にした。すると、「お、おいしい・・・。こんな甘いもの初めてだ・・・。」と驚いた様子だった。「こ、これを、我に捧げてくれるのか？」と先ほどとうって変わった様子で問いかけてきたので、うん、全部食べなよと、食事を促す。すると少女は「そ、そうか、礼をいうぞ」と言って、がつがつとケーキを貪り始めた。そして、数十分経って、ケーキを好きなだけ食べて、満足したのか、「ふぅ」と少女は一息ついた。「今思えば、我は復活してから何も食べていないのだった。本当に礼を言うぞ」とふんすと満足げに息を吐く少女。ようやく彼女の顔に笑いの色が現れて、僕はホッとした。「・・・お主の親切、とても痛み入るぞ」と少女は柔らかく微笑み「お主、名は何と言うのだ？」聞いてきた。僕は彼女に自分の名を告げてわっふるわっふる

The pitiful weeping girl who was painful to look at

I didn't know what to say to the crying girl. It seemed that she was a youkai of some sort, had been sealed away, and awoke to find the friends that were there with her gone. That's why she was so sad. She had no one and nothing to relate to in this world. I thought about her asking me to give her my blessing out there in the rain. "Blessing" is kind of a complicated word, but it basically means to celebrate something. I wondered about what to do with the crying girl, thinking it might have been better to have left her alone in the first place. But I had already taken her into my home, worried about her. I didn't want to half-ass my treatment of her. I petted her head, told her to wait a moment and dashed outside. I returned home momentarily, bringing with me some cake and roast chicken. The girl gave me a quizzical look. I placed the food on the dining table and told her to sit, putting her on a seat.

Then, gathering my resolve, I exclaimed, "Congratulations on your revival!" in a stupidly cheery voice while opening a party popper. As soon as I did, she let out a startled "hya!" and stared at me intently, unable to control her blinking. "I told you earlier that I would bless our meeting together, so here I am. Here's my gift to you," I said in the friendliest tone I could manage while pointing at the food. She still had a dazed look on her face, so I told her to eat up and shoved some cake at her. She timidly took a bite, and as soon as she did burst out in surprise, "Th... this is divine! Never before have I tasted something so sweet...." "D, do you give this to me?" she asked with a markedly different disposition than before. "Yeah, go ahead. Eat it all," I offered. "I see... I am grateful," she replied before starting to greedily devour the cake. A few minutes later, satisfied with the amount of cake she had eaten, she let out a small content sigh. "Now that I think about it, I had not had anything to eat since I woke up. I am truly thankful," she said with a deep exhale, clearly satisfied. It made my heart throb to finally see her with a happy face. "...I am incredibly indebted to your kindness," she said with a soft smile. "And what would your name be?" I told her my name and... to be continued
