I thought that too, but you can't really say Minato or Isshin are bad parents. Dead or weird? Yes. Bad? Not really. Dragon, too, is on the fence. It's not particularly good parenting to never visit your son, but neither is exposing him to constant danger and persecution.

How is Goku a bad father? He was always there for Gohan except for when he is dead. And Vegeta is a bad father either. Maybe a little tough love, but he was always there for Trunks also except for when he was dead.
