megatron

Megatron is one of the most well-known villains of the Transformers franchise. He is the powerful and merciless leader of the antagonist faction, the evil Decepticons.

His original alternate mode is a grey and silver Walther P38 handgun with several attachments. Due to changes in toy safety laws, contemporary versions of Megatron have had to design new alternate modes, usually having him become some sort of military vehicle such as a tank or helicopter. Modern incarnations, such as the live action movie, have had him become an 'alien' craft rather than an Earth-based vehicle.

Megatron's first G1 design was created by designer Ono Kojin for the Japanese Microchange transformation robot toy series in the early 80s.

Alternate Versions

• Galvatron - the upgraded form Unicron gives to Megatron in the G1 movie, and the name used for his upgraded form in several later series as well. As Galvatron is sometimes depicted as a completely separate character, at times existing alongside Megatron, images of Galvatron alone should not be tagged as Megatron.
• Optimal Megatron - Megatron's upgraded form in Beast Machines.
• Gigatron - The Decepticon leader in Car Robots, who was renamed to Megatron in the English dub.
• Megatron (IDW) - the IDW Comics depiction of Megatron, most notable for his sincere attempts at atonement and defection to the Autobots.
• Megatron (Prime) - the depiction of Megatron in Transformers Prime, with a design inspired by his appearance in the live action films.
• Megatron (Shattered Glass) - the depiction of Megatron in the Shattered Glass AU, in which he is the noble leader of the benevolent Decepticons.
• Megatron (Kotobukiya Bishoujo) - a humanized female version of Megatron from the Kotobukiya Bishoujo figure line.
