Gatling can refer to Richard Gatling's gun or the various multi-barreled guns and cannons based on his design. The guns themselves can be as small as your typical light machine gun or a cannon with its barrel of ammunition the size of a Volkswagen beetle.
Looks like a fairly normal pump-action shotgun, except with some kind of folding stock replacing the normal one.
If you consider her stated powers (rather than her standard EX-boss throw-danmaku-everywhere behaviour), a heavy sniper/anti-materiel rifle fits Flan perfectly: her destruction powers are very much "concentrate, concentrate, concentrate, one-shot kill". (I don't know how you'd represent "fate manipulation" as a firearm for Remilia, though...)

She (effectively) doesn't miss? If you follow that logic - that people are fated to run into her bullets - then a Gatling is a wonderful weapon for her, although a Sniper Rifle does seem like it'd be more her style ... except for her spellcards, of course. Particulary the Scarlet Signs and Hell Sign "Mountain of a Thousand Needles."

Patchy, with a friggen Barret M82A1 .50Cal BMG? A 12Gauge 2-3/4 inch 00 Buck Shot (Trench-Gun load) is a kitten compared to that thing! In fact, every load for the 12Gauge kicks less then the .50 all the way up until the 4 inch Magnum... and no military shotgun that I know of fires the 4 inch Magnum (and certainly not that one).
There is't a human alive in able condition (not medically challenged) that isn't able to handle a 12Guage (self-defense rounds). Walking into the wall generates more return energy than that. There is a reason that a 12Gauge is considered a Beginner's gun, you can actually take a freshy and start them with one of the 2-1/2 inchers... about the return energy felt as receiving a light smack.
If Patchy, in her condition, fired the M82 her arm would go flying off in the other direction. That's the reason I've never understood the Touhou Fortress 2 Patchy, the .300Mag (the round that is implied that the Sniper uses) kicks like a horse too, especially to an unprepared body... like Patchy's. But that's its own universe.
In case of TL;DR: Patchy with a High Powered Rifle that would blow her own arm clear off? No way. Patchy with a Self-Defense weapon that only just may bruise her? Yes way. Touhou Fortress 2 being left aside.
